We welcome submissions from all disciplines and hope to see your work, too! Before you submit, make sure your article follows the following guidelines:
- An abstract summarizing your paper
- Appropriate grammar and style
- If images are present, including graphs and charts, they must be credited to you, are public domain or include permission for reprinting
- APA format, including in-text citations and works cited page
- All submissions must be in Microsoft Word format
- Regarding AI: You may use AI tools for brainstorming, outlining, or checking clarity, but AI cannot write any part of your manuscript. If you use AI at any point, include a short note with your submission explaining how. You are responsible for the originality and accuracy of your work. Manuscripts that rely on AI for writing or ideas will not be accepted.
All authors will be asked to submit an author's contract upon acceptance to the journal. Authors who publish with this journal agree to Open Access publication and the following terms:
- Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attributions 4.0 International (A CCBY 4.0 Deed) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal. Additional CC options include:
CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC BY-ND, CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-SA, and CC BY-NC-ND.
- Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).
- Student authors waive FERPA rights for only the publication of the author submitted works.
Specifically: Students of Indiana University East voluntarily agree to submit their own works to The Journal of Student Research at Indiana University East, with full understanding of FERPA rights and in recognition that for this one, specific instance they understand that The Journal of Student Research at Indiana University East is Public and Open Access. Additionally, the Journal is viewable via the Internet and searchable via Indiana University, Google, and Google-Scholar search engines.
