Hindsight: The Journal of Optometry History is the quarterly publication of The Optometric Historical Society (OHS), a program of Optometry Cares® - The AOA Foundation (OC). This journal publishes a variety of material that contributes new knowledge to optometry history, interprets historical sources from unique perspectives, and guides others in their research. The purpose of the journal is to enrich the scholarship and engender a deeper understanding of optometry’s role in all aspects of society and culture. Theme Issue: History of Soft Contact Lenses

We welcome submissions to Hindsight on topics relating to the history of soft contact lenses.  Examples of such topics could include evolution of lens designs and fitting methods, development of soft lens polymers, how the development of soft contact lenses affected the practice of optometry, how soft lens fitting advanced knowledge of corneal physiology and ocular microbiology, and development of optical and fitting strategies for management of presbyopia and astigmatism with soft contact lenses.

We welcome submissions to Hindsight on topics relating to the history of optometric care in the military.  Examples of such topics could include how the role and recognition of optometrists in the military has evolved, personal experiences of practicing optometry in the military, how the way optometry is practiced in the military has influenced the optometric profession, optometry in the Veterans Administration, and profiles of military optometrists who have had significant impact on the profession of optometry.
