About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Anthropology of East Europe Review (AEER) is a publication of Indiana University's IUScholarworks. It is a biannual edited journal of scholarship on Eastern Europe, Russia, the Balkans, Central Asia, and beyond. Our mission is to showcase both research and analytical publications alongside fieldwork-forward essays that bring the discipline of anthropology to the forefront.
Peer Review Process
AEER is an edited journal. All submissions will undergo review by the editor. All research articles will be reviewed by at least one additional member of the editorial board. The board will also take submissions for special issue themes. AEER also publishes book reviews of volumes published in the past five years related to anthropology and the social sciences in the geographic regions of East Europe, Russia, the Balkans, and Central Asia.
Publication Frequency
AEER is published twice each year in two numbers. Each volume's first number should appear before midsummer, while its second number should appear before year's end.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
