Focus and Scope

The Anthropology of East Europe Review (AEER), a publication of  Indian University's IUScholarworks, is a biannual edited journal of scholarship on Eastern Europe, Russia, the Balkans, and Central Asia. Our mission is to showcase fresh, up-to-date research and to help build a community of scholars who focus on the region.

Peer Review Process

AEER is an edited journal; most articles undergo some process of revision but submissions are not formally peer-reviewed.This approach stems from our goal for a fast turnaround of cutting edge, current research. The editor approves all articles selected for publication, and often makes suggestions for revisions.Additionally, the AEER frequently showcases Special Issues, and the articles included often undergo revisions on the suggestions of the guest editor(s).

Publication Frequency

AEER is published twice each year in two numbers. Each volume's first number should appear before midsummer, while its second number should appear before year's end.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
