Focus and Scope

Published annually by Indiana University Press, Mande Studies is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal publishing original research that focuses on the Mande-speaking peoples of West Africa and the Mande community in diaspora, from slavery to the post-colony. The editors welcome articles in the social sciences and the humanities including anthropology, archaeology, art history, ethnomusicology, history, literary studies, religious studies, public health, sociolinguistics, sociology.  Articles may range from the precolonial period to the present.
