"It's so hard to breav." The Tight Noose of Capitalism in Tillie Olsen's Yonnondio: From the Thirties
Main Article Content
Abstract
Olsen's Yonnondio presents the hardships of the working class during the era before the Great Depression. The book opens in the early 1920s, a prriod in which the working class was developing a consciousness of their status in society. ln this paper, I critically analyze how the class system affects the lives of the proletariats at homes and worksites in Yonnondio. Furthermore, how the working-class people merely serve as a tool to increase the capital of the elite classes.
