Several student writing journals have existed at Indiana University East since the spring of 1973. The Student Writing Journal collection is likely incomplete, so all dates are estimates. Based on the journals housed in the Archives, it seems the student writing journals changed names approximately every decade. The first journal was titled Potpourri which continued through the 1970s until it was replaced by Paideia by 1980. Thorn soon replaced Paideia, perhaps around 1991. Thorn continued until replaced by the IU East’s Journal of Student Writing. The first Journal of Student Writing owned by the Archives is from 2002. This title only lasted through 2005, and the current title of the student writing journal, Tributaries, was first published in 2006. New issues are added to the collection as they are printed and distributed.
