Nora K. Rivera, Chapman University

Nora K. Rivera is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition in the Department of English at Chapman University. Her work centers on Latinx and Indigenous rhetorics and their intersections with technical communication. Her dissertation, The Rhetorical Mediator: Understanding Agency in Indigenous Translation and Interpretation through Indigenous Approaches to UX, received the 2022 Outstanding Dissertation award from the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, and the 2022 Honorable Mention award from the Latin American Studies Association. Her article “Understanding Agency Through Testimonios: An Indigenous Approach to UX Research” received the 2023 Outstanding Journal Article Award from the Society for Technical Communication. Rivera’s work has been published in College Composition and Communication, the Chicana/Latina Studies Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio, Programmatic Perspectives, Technical Communication, the Journal of Teaching Writing, and Intermezzo. She is the author of The Rhetorical Mediator, published by the Utah State University Press in 2024.
