Gabriele Guidi, Politecnico di Milano
Gabriele Guidi is an Associate Professor with tenure in Computer Vision and Reverse Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He joined the University of Florence as a Researcher in Electronics in 1995, and moved to Politecnico di Milano in 2005, where he is now at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In the 1990s, he was actively engaged in research on ultrasound equipment for biomedical imaging. In 2000 he began to investigate optical 3D imaging with active and passive approaches, developing research on 3D sensor fusion, sensor characterization and calibration, 3D digitization for Cultural Heritage, Design and Engineering. His research activity has always been focused on technological developments aimed at specific applications. As a result, during his career, he has developed a highly interdisciplinary methodological approach that has led him to collaborate with physicians, librarians, archaeologists, architects, and designers.
