Jessica Hritz McCort, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri

Jessica Hritz McCort is a graduate student finishing her doctorate in American Literature at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Her dissertation, entitled “Getting out of Wonderland: Elizabeth Bishop, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, and Adrienne Rich,” explores how Bishop, Plath, Sexton, and Rich appropriate children’s literature and examine girls’ reading practices and authorship in order to come to terms with questions of identity, femininity, sexuality, psychological trauma, and both literary and familial inheritance.
