Gail Crowther is currently in the second year of doctoral study in the Department of Sociology at Lancaster University, UK. Her research involves exploring reader-responses to Sylvia Plath, drawing mainly upon psychoanalytic theory and the concept of spectrality. By collecting primary data, her aim is to explore the level and nature of the identification and introjection taking place between Plath and her readers and how this manifests itself in place, texts, objects and images.
