Gail Crowther was awarded her Ph.D. from the Sociology Department, Lancaster University, UK in March 2010 for her thesis "The Haunted Reader and Sylvia Plath." She currently teaches at Lancaster University, the Open University and is Editorial Assistant for The Journal of Historical Sociology.
