Maeve O'Brien

Maeve O'Brien is a first year Ph.D student at the University of Ulster. She has a B.A. (Honours) in English Literature and Modern History from the Queen’s University of Belfast and an M.Litt in English Literature (Modernities) from the University of Glasgow. Her Ph.D project aims to analyse responses to silence in the poetry and fiction of Sylvia Plath. Her research interests include modern and contemporary poetry, American avant-garde art and poetry movements, representations of madness in literature, the Southern gothic, W.B. Yeats, and novels of the 1950s.
