is an Instructor of Writing in the English Department at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, specializing in American literature and women's writing. Dr. McCort's scholarship focuses largely on children's literature, particularly Grimm's and Andersen's fairy tales and Lewis Carroll's Alice books. Yet her side-interests include gothic and horror literature and, more particularly, the intersection between the horror genre and children's books.
