Carl Rollyson

Carl Rollyson, Professor Emeritus of Journalism at Baruch College, The City University of New York. He is at work on two volumes of Sylvia Plath Day by Day and The Making of Sylvia Plath for University Press of Mississippi. In the fall of 2022, University Press of Mississippi will publish William Faulkner Day by Day. He is the author of Marilyn Monroe: A Life of the Actress (1986); Lillian Hellman: Her Legend and Her Legacy (1998); Nothing Ever Happens to the Brave: The Life of Martha Gellhorn (1990); The Lives of Norman Mailer (1990); Rebecca West: A Saga of the Century (1994); Susan Sontag: The Making of an Icon (2000); Beautiful Exile: The Life of Martha Gellhorn (revised and updated, 2002); To Be a Woman: The Life of Jill Craigie (2005); Norman Mailer: The Last Romantic (revised and updated, 2008); Lillian Hellman: Her Life and Legend (revised and updated, 2008); Hollywood Enigma: Dana Andrews (2012); American Isis: The Life and Art of Sylvia Plath (2013); Amy Lowell Anew: A Biography (2013); Marilyn Monroe: A Life of the Actress, revised and updated (2014); A Real American Character: The Life of Walter Brennan (2015); A Private Life of Michael Foot (2015); Susan Sontag: The Making of an Icon, revised and updated (2016); Rebecca West: A Modern Sibyl (revised and updated, 2017);  The Last Days of Sylvia Plath (March 2020) and The Life of William Faulkner, volume 1 (March 2020); volume 2 (September 2020).
