Abstract

It can be incredibly challenging to diagnose individuals with psychopathy, as there is no singular cause behind the development of this condition. Identifying and caring for children who display psychopathic traits can be even more difficult. In this paper, the general definition and various outcomes of suffering from callous-unemotionality are discussed, as well as an outline of potential causes for an individual to develop these tendencies. An analysis of the different societal responses to callous-unemotional individuals is presented along with a discussion of what society can do to aid and understand this condition moving forward.
