Dear JoSoTL readers, authors, and reviewers,

We are pleased to introduce a refreshed visual identity for the Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, beginning with this issue’s new cover design. The updated cover features the JoSoTL acronym alongside a feather, a symbol of wisdom, creativity, and scholarly inquiry. The feather also reflects the enduring tradition of writing and dissemination that lies at the heart of higher education and the work of our contributors.

This redesign represents more than a visual update. Our new typeface was selected not only for its modern appearance, but for its readability and accessibility across both print and digital formats. Clearer letterforms and improved spacing support more inclusive engagement with the scholarship we publish, ensuring that ideas are more easily accessed by a diverse readership. In alignment with this commitment, we will also begin implementing our new accessibility style sheet with the first issue of 2026 to ensure compliance with forthcoming online journal accessibility mandates.

The refreshed color palette similarly reflects this commitment. Softer tones, increased contrast, and greater use of open space enhance clarity and reduce visual complexity, creating a more approachable and reader-centered experience. Together, these changes improve legibility while signaling JoSoTL’s continued growth as a forward-looking, accessible, and community-oriented journal.

As the field of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning continues to evolve, so too does our commitment to supporting its scholars. We hope this new visual identity reflects our dedication to clarity, inclusivity, and meaningful connection within the SoTL community.

Thank you for being part of this ongoing journey with us.
