Abstract

This note examines so-called “Person Case Constraint” (PCC) effects in several Slavic languages. These are ordering restrictions on co-occurring clitic pronouns, where DAT(ive) »ACC(usative) but only certain person combinations are felicitous. It is proposed that thereis no PERS(on) node per se, and that person should be characterized in terms of PART(icipant) and AUTH(or), with these features spreading from a higher Appl(icative) nodeto underspecified clitic pronouns.
