Kazakh non-finite clauses followed by -LIQ as a case in favor of the clause-internal nominalization hypothesis

Abstract
The paper deals with the so-called "factive" non-finite clauses in Kazakh. Based on novel data elicited by the author, it is argued that some types of "factive" non-finite clauses are nominalized, while others are not. We also show that the nominalizer head is spelled out by the suffix -LIQ. Our findings thus support the clause-internal nominalization hypothesis, which argues that not a clause-external but a clause-internal nominal head is responsible for the nominalization of "factive" non-finite clauses.
