Abstract
In Bluegrass Generation: A Memoir, Neil V. Rosenberg blurs the boundary between memoir and history. As a memoirist, Rosenberg recounts his multiple apprenticeships as a musician, folklorist, festival organizer, revivalist, writer, and historian. This work—part of the Music in American Life series—also has historical import, not only for what it contributes to our understanding of the emergence of bluegrass music but also for highlighting the significant role that scholars can have on recording a music’s history.
