Abstract

The New England College of Optometry in Boston turns 125 years old in 2019. Throughout its existence, the institution has undertaken several initiatives that changed the profession of optometry both in the United States and globally. The most significant of these are detailed in this history.

Heather Edmonds is the Director of Library Services at the New England College of Optometry and a member of the Association of Vision Science Librarians, and the Optometric Historical Society Committee.

Matthew Garston, O.D., New England College of Optometry

Dr. Matthew Garston is a practicing optometrist at MITMedical, a diplomate of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and a Professor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry.
