Abstract
The holdings of the Wayne State University Folklore Archive are especially noteworthy for two reasons. First, they contain the largest and oldest known ongoing collection of urban folklore as well as the folklore of urban groups in North America. Second, they comprise the foremost collection of Michigan traditional materials, rivaled only by the Michigan State college Folklore Archives, which were incorporated into the Indiana University Folklore Archives in 1957 by Professor Richard M. Dorson
