When Humans Become their Own Enemy A Brief Narrative on Today’s Existential Crisis

Abstract
While most of us are likely to be full of wonder and to celebrate the achievements of applications of modern knowledge to how we wish, want, or plan to live our lives, some of these achievements have not come without risks or real dangerous aftermaths that are faced by communities all over the world. Existence is in crisis. I argue that although humans distinguish themselves from other known beings by virtue of their reason, the tool that guarantees their survival and flourishing, reason now has driven humans into a crisis. As a result, their own existence and that of nature, is threatened.
