Description
This report examines strategies to strengthen community engagement and support for Orange County Habitat for Humanity. Developed by Indiana University MSCH-R 348 Public Relations Planning and Research students, the study combines qualitative interviews with past and current clients and quantitative surveys of local residents to identify perceptions, motivations, and communication preferences. Key findings reveal misconceptions about Habitat for Humanity, a strong reliance on Facebook and local newspapers for information, and a desire for more direct outreach. Recommendations include creating a Facebook group, enhancing newsletter and event communication, dispelling myths through targeted messaging, and leveraging partnerships with churches and community events to recruit clients, volunteers, and donors.
This report reflects original student research and recommendations from Indiana University MSCH-R 348 Public Relations Planning and Research in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County as part of the 2018–19 Sustaining Hoosier Communities initiative.
