Abstract

This data set includes data from five time periods collected by Engs and David J. Hanson of SUNY, Potsdam, NY. Over five time periods beginning in 1982 an extending into 1995 data were collected from students around the United States at various colleges and universities. Colleges were selected to represent the proportions of students attending four-year institutions of higher learning based on the “Yearbook of Higher Education” in terms of public or private (religiously affiliated as well as non-affiliated) ethnic mixtures, enrollments over and under 10,000, location in various community sizes (under 100,000, 100¬500 thousand, over 500 thousand) and from all 50 states...CAVEAT: databases were uploaded to IUScholarworks repository years after they were actively being used. Therefore, in some cases variables are unknown when compared to the few questionnaires and SPSS Mainframe programs still in existence. Research with these databases was primarily accomplished from the mid-1970s through mid-1990s. Samples of paper material concerning these studies are found in the IU Archives in the Ruth Clifford Engs collection.
