As libraries are increasingly charged with long-term preservation of materials, they are having to make difficult decisions about what can be preserved and for how long. This chapter explores how open access materials are being preserved, and whether the tragedy of the commons will soon become the tragedy of the scholarly record.
This chapter utilizes research that was undertaken as part of a DiXiT fellowship, funded by the European Commission.
