| dc.description.abstract | Ctenoconularia delphiensis is a new species of the Conulata obtained from the base of the New Albany Shale (upper Devonian) at Delphi, Ind. This new species differs from other members of the genus in possessing several pustules opposite the transverse ridges in the interfacial grooves. The new taxon is based on 150 specimens from a phosphatic-nodular bed containing other fossils rich in calcium phosphate. The conulariid-bearing rock is a coarse-grained mature quartz sandstone interpreted as deposited under shallow marine conditions with penecontemporaneous formation of phosphatic nodules. | |
