Abstract

Description

This report, developed by Indiana University’s Political and Civic Engagement Program in collaboration with the Center for Rural Engagement, examines childcare availability in Daviess County, Indiana. Drawing on local data, policy analysis, and case studies, the report outlines strategies to support childcare expansion through coalition-building, public-private partnerships, and innovative childcare models such as micro facilities and tri-share programs. It also explores opportunities tied to federal and state initiatives, including the CHIPS Act and Senate Enrolled Act 2, and identifies potential funding sources to enhance service capacity. The findings aim to inform community stakeholders and decision-makers working to strengthen early childhood care infrastructure in rural Indiana.
