Abstract

Description

This report documents a collaborative project between students in F180: Survey of Practice with Youth and Families and the Paoli Community Garden, developed through the 2018–2019 Sustaining Hoosier Communities initiative. The project aimed to create developmentally appropriate recreational programming for children and teens in a community garden setting. Students produced 29 lesson plans tailored to age groups ranging from early childhood to adolescence, integrating gardening activities with educational goals in physical, cognitive, and social development. Deliverables included printed materials for on-site use, a garden sign design, and student reflections on community engagement. This report presents original student work and recommendations created by students in F180: Survey of Practice with Youth and Families for the Paoli Community Garden. The views expressed do not represent those of IUSHC, CRE, Indiana University, or the Paoli Community Garden.
