Abstract

A shift in user focus and information need has necessitated the development of tools to aid in the discovery of resources and, to be sure, resource discovery is arguably one of the most pressing issues that concerns libraries today. Technological innovation in an increasingly online world has changed not only the availability of information resources, but also how those resources are being used and discovered. This chapter discusses the concept of information discovery, web-scale discovery tools and services, as well as the use and integration of discovery systems in library environments.
