In December the Northwest Indiana Coincident Index grew by 0.3 points to reach 143.8. While third quarter employment gains were reversed as the region lost 2,400 jobs, this was offset by strong growth in retail sales (up over 4% from one year ago) and a 7% increase in monthly steel production. The forecast for economic growth over the next six months remains at about 1%.en
