Abstract
At the request of the Department of the Navy, Crane Division Naval Surface Warfare Center (CNSWC), the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology, Indiana University (GBL-IU), conducted an archaeological reconnaissance survey for proposed container loading and surveillance funtion test range facilities to be located on the grounds of the CNSWC in Martin County, Indiana. The archaeological surface reconnaissance of the project area was conducted by Mr. Eric Sipes and Mr. Chuck Bair on May 26, 1998. The subsequent report of findings for the project was produced during the following week. The purpose of the reconnaissance was to locate archaeological cultural resources within the project area and to assess the potential of those resources for inclusion on the Indiana Register of Historic Sites and Structures (IRHSS) and the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). No cultural resources were discovered within the proposed project areas.
