Description

This report presents recommendations for enhancing arts and cultural programming in Washington County, Indiana, developed by students in the SPEA-A 450 Contemporary Topics in Arts Administration course as part of the 2020–21 Indiana University Sustaining Hoosier Communities initiative. The document outlines strategies to build, promote, and sustain county-wide arts engagement, including creating a centralized online calendar of events, developing a digital map of community assets, producing a documentary showcasing local traditions, and conducting a county-wide survey to identify hidden resources. These proposals aim to strengthen collaboration between Indiana University and Washington County, improve accessibility to cultural opportunities, and foster community identity through arts and heritage. This report reflects original student work and recommendations created for Washington County through the SPEA-A 450 Contemporary Topics in Arts Administration course. The ideas and opinions expressed herein represent the perspectives of the students and do not necessarily reflect those of the Sustaining Hoosier Communities initiative, the IU Center for Rural Engagement, Indiana University, or Washington County officials.
