Abstract
Among the many joys of working in our field is the opportunity to work with extraordinary people. Robert P. Kraft is truly one of the most extraordinary individuals in 20th century astronomy, notable for his scientific contributions, his service to the field, and especially for his mentorship and support of young astronomers. His was a remarkable life, spanning a remarkable time.
