Abstract
Presents the findings from a national survey sent to deans at American Library Association (ALA) accredited Library and Information Science (LIS) programs. Krutulis concludes that LIS programs offer limited coursework in area studies librarianship; some programs, however, are establishing dual degrees programs. Further, only a handful of faculty members are interested in area librarianship; consequently, the impetus behind area librarianship education comes from area librarians.
