Abstract
Two spreadsheets with supplemental data on: 1) books authored by a selection of IU faculty promoted from assistant to associate and associate to professor from Indiana University Board of Trustee minutes 2009-2014. 2) author affiliations of select IU Press titles 2013-first half of 2016 with separate list of 2014 titles.
Description
These spreadsheets provide supplemental information to accompany the results of an investigation conducted at Indiana University and the University of Michigan during the first half of calendar year 2015. Supported by funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the specific aim of the study was to explore how a potential “subvention” system of funding in which universities and colleges paid the costs of producing humanities monographs (rather than expecting publishers to recoup their costs from consumer payments) could work at two major research universities. The possibility of such a subvention system has been recently advocated for by the American Association of Universities and the Association of Research Libraries and is the subject of a collection of research projects funded by the Mellon Foundation.
