This booklet includes descriptions of the 2019 Indiana Apprenticeship Award recipients. Traditional Arts Indiana (TAI) works throughout Indiana to identify, document, and promote the folk and traditional arts. TAI strives to support the work of artists and their communities in ways that ensure the continuation of valued community-based knowledge. TAI’s Apprenticeship Program encourages the intergenerational transmission of aesthetic forms and traditional practices rooted in community life. A time-tested model for learning, face-to-face apprenticeships allow artists and their apprentices the time and space to dive deeply into their work together.
