dc.description.abstract	The Mpoto are a Bantu people located along the shores of Lake Nyasa in the Ruvuma Region, Mbinga District, of southwestern Tanzania. Fables and folktales, as recalled by the first author, were recorded in 2013-2014 at Indiana University. Each text has been linguistically analyzed and glossed, providing readers the opportunity to compare the broad translation with specific words used in the texts. This is the first published collection on oral literature of the Mpoto people.
