Abstract
The Sibuncloy Valley in southwestern Colombia is home to two indigenous communities, the Kamsa and lngano, as well as a sizable population of non-Indian Colombians. This green and fertile valley lies high in the mountains, near the eastern rim of the Andes, not far north of the border with Ecuador. The headwaters of the Putumayo River course through the valley to plunge down into the tropical forest en route to a rendezvous with the mighty Amazon.
