Abstract
For Algerians "la mixite" -- a concept inadequately translated "mixed-sex behavior" -- encompasses a wide range of behaviors and assumptions about male-female interaction. Through dance, youth in Berber cultural associations in Algeria have begun to introduce new ways of thinking about both clan and gender relations.
