Abstract:
As India prepares to hold its eleventh general election this April, a profound sense of uncertainty stalks the political scene. It is by no means clear that any single party will emerge victorious. In India and abroad, political pundits are predicting a rout for the ruling Congress Party. Yet no other party seems to have
sufficient support to sweep the polls. This bodes ill for Indias future, and places many of the hard-won political and economic gains of the past few years
at risk.
