Abstract
This forum features a conversation with a few prominent folklorists who will reflect on their respective careers and share their thoughts on the past and future of our discipline. This year's forum will focus on the public sector by looking at the "life of learning" and the choices, chances, and triumphs of participants Peggy Bulger, Olivia Cadaval, Joe Hickerson, Pat Jasper, and Steve Zeitlin. Pravina Shukla will facilitate this exchange about the participants' academic and public work, their fieldwork, and their involvement in the field and the American Folklore Society over the past several decades.
