dc.description.abstract MPI- shared memory and parallelization: This class will begin with an overview of computer programming in general and why parallel programming is important. Basic concepts will be discussed. A threaded model of a serial program will be demonstrated in OpenMP and other thread options will be explored. Finally, a simple, serial science program will be given to the students to parallelize using message passing libraries (MPI). en
