Dear Subscriber,

As we enter the new millennium, we find ourselves in the interesting position of being one of the older humanities publications on the internet - all of eight years old! We would like to offer our thanks to the many people who make the publication of TMR possible.

First and foremost, thanks go to Douglas Dentino and Kerry Warren, our editorial assistants, for their outstanding work in maintaining our day-to-day operational procedures. We are extremely grateful to the Humanities Text Initiative at the University of Michigan, which maintains the website for us, and in particular to Chris Powell, Maria Bonn and Brian Rosenblum. Support from Western Michigan University enables us to operate; we receive assistance, both financial and moral, from Paul E. Szarmach and the Medieval Institute, Elise Jorgens, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of History. We are also grateful to the Mellon Foundation for additional support, and for the cooperation of the Bryn Mawr Classical Review and its editors, Rick Hamilton and Jim O'Donnell.

We wish to thank our advisory board and review editors (listed below) for their diligence, and for enabling us to maintain high standards for our reviews. Of course we thank our reviewers, without whose work there would be no journal. Finally we thank you, the subscribers; we are continually heartened by your enthusiasm for Medieval Studies on the internet.

Best wishes for 2001!

Deborah M. Deliyannis and Rand H. Johnson, Editors
